646f9e108c Hollywood movie star Nick Lang is after a role as a policeman, and to get background, pulls strings to get seconded to a New York detective for a fortnight. Lt. John Moss is less than overjoyed by his new partner who is soon cramping his rough streetwise style. But when it comes to getting on with the lovely Susan, the lieutenant could do a great deal worse than listen to Nick's advice. An action movie star researching a role is allowed to tag along with a hardboiled New York City policeman, who finds him superficial and irritating. Oh, its not very good, but its also not so bad. Yes, entertaining, no not really funny or exciting though and its billed as an action/comedy. The movie is full of skilled actors and Michael J. Fox, that formula has worked in the past, hey maybe it even worked this time around but don't ask me, or I guess you are kinda asking hence the review. John Badham is not a good director, he tells stories poorly. With the movie The Hard Way, Badham is given a story that has no life, he tells a crap story and he tells that crap story for crap. Every joke is telegraphed long before it plays out, no characters are ever in any real danger, and no words spoken are very memorable. Hey, The Hard Way is better than Lethal Weapon 3, or The Last Action Hero, or Red Dawn both original and the remake. That's gotta count for something right? I really enjoyed this one. I am a huge Michael J Fox fan and enjoy all his films but this one i enjoyed most. James Woods plays a good part. His sarcasm and wit really helps the film along and Fox's ego also adds to the enjoyment. The storyline is a bit of a this has been done before. A copper chases a serial killer and so on apart from the little bit added, a movie star wants to get a part in a film and wants to hang out with a hard man of the law to help him get into character. They was told to stay out of trouble but that would be boring so they get into loads.<br/><br/>All in all its enjoyable. Packed with humour and action. I give it a 6/10.
